Was pleasantly surprised by this little spot. I was craving some banh mi while I was vegetarian for religious reasons. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try based off the good reviews. I got the banh mi cha lua and it was pretty good. I'm always surprised how they make the imitation meat so identical to the real thing. The baguette bread was fresh and super crunchy! My banh mi came with plenty of pickled vegetables and stuffings. They even have vegan butter. Staff was friendly and they sell a variety of vegetarian items at the store as well. Definitely recommend and will be back for some good food.

VEGETARIAN HEAVEN Great fake meat options for the sandwiches. The menu had a lot of other good looking items that I will dream of trying for the future. I got the BBQ chicken and I think it tastes just like the real thing. Wow wow wowza 10000/10 A gem. I would award a Michelin star if I had the power

I was working in the area and decided to give this place a try and i was not disappointed! The banh mi was everything i hoped it would be, the bread was flaky and chewy, the vegan ham was soft and sweet, the pickled veggies were crispy and tart. The vegan Thai Iced tea was sweet and creamy. 10/10

As an out of towner, I have to give my flowers to Thien Dang because they have some of the best vegan banh mi I've had for a very competitive price. The shop itself is very small and is very much a 'buy and go' type of establishment. Their menu includes a variety of vegan banh mi using different types of mock meats and house spreads, and they even have a hot deli section where you can create a to-go box of different dishes. I really loved my "Beef Banh Mi" and it was just as good the next day. Full size baguette with vegan spread, all the pickled goodness, and vegan soy meats inside that tasted just like their meat counterpart. Couldn't be happier with us stopping by here to grab a delicious meal. They accept card and digital payments which is nice to see.

This is, hands-down, the best place to get vegetarian banh mi. Some might say it's even better than other, meat-serving, locations. Even my nearly-carnivorous Dad enjoyed the sandwiches here. Whenever I come down to OC to visit my mom, I make it a point to stop by and get the chicken teriyaki sandwich (#5) and the bun rieu. They also have great veggie pate sold by the can, as well as many veggie meat options. Other fantastic options include their cơm suon bị cha chay and banh mi dac biet. They've added some tables that make the space cramped, but most people only come by to buy to-go anyway. I honestly don't know what I'd do if they ever closed. I'd live there if I could.

The banh mi sold here are LOADED. I was born and raised vegetarian in OC so I have tried every vegan/vegetarian establishment up and down the coast. Usually I am the only vegetarian friend in the group so I'm use to ordering what I call the "pity" selection, the ones they throw on the menu for the rare occasion there are vegetarians in the ordering party, at other sandwich spots (Cali, Lees, etc). Since this is a vegan/vegetarian restaurant their banh mi are the real deal for a reasonable price. I noticed some other reviews mentioning the price increase but if you compare it to what you would get elsewhere, it is a very good deal. The faux meats alone are very pricey in terms of raw cost. Vegans should already know this from their grocery shopping experiences and if you have ever worked in food service you know that margins are extremely low. Speaking of grocery shopping they stock frozen goods here! Brands from all over including the ones imported from Taiwan, a newer one from Vietnam named "Au Lac", plant-based pate from Germany, it's quite a big selection. As far as service, they are a smaller restaurant so it's unrealistic to expect a mom&pop to hire a lot of overhead for the rare instances that they get really busy. They try their best and I actually like that they take their time with each order (the wait isn't that long tbh), the food is consistent every time. Just call in the order if time is of the essence. Of course the restaurant menu items are delicious as well, I just figured I would focus on the banh mi since there aren't many like them around. 10/10 from a lifelong vegetarian

Lent season has come and I am giving up meat for 40days. I was just in the area to do my taxes and I looked up vegetarian spots. This place popped up as the closest to the office. Had to check it out. Bout two orders each of the #2 & #7. So far the vegan beef is pretty good. I wish the beef prices were marinated longer for intense flavor. The pork one is different. A little to jello like, but flavor wasn't bad. Sugarcane and café sua da drinks are yummy. This is a little hole in a wall spot on brookhurst next to a beauty supply shop.

I've been on a personal mission to find great tasting vegetarian and vegan/plant-based Vietnamese food and I'm super glad I found Thien Dang. I've only ever ordered from them on Grubhub but it's never been disappointing. My husband and I have tried quite a few of their banh mis, and I think their beef is my favorite one! I haven't had real beef in about 4 years now and theirs satisfied my craving - love the lemongrass on it. I also recently got their version of a combination broken rice and I liked it, but didn't love it. The shredded pork had a good texture and taste and so did the spare rib, but the bean curd pie left something to be desired. Also, the daikon and carrots weren't actually pickled which is weird since it's supposed to be Đồ chua. I let them sit in the fish sauce for a while and then added it to my rice and it was alright then. Their bun Bo hue (not pictured) was okay, it wasn't the best but it did the trick. The broth was very oily though and I wish it had more veggies or things in it and a stronger lemongrass flavor. I also wish they had given me extra saté like I requested because that would've definitely helped.
